YouTuber 'Captain Crunch' stabbed while recording boaters at Clear Lake dock, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A local fishing YouTuber who goes by the name Captain Crunch Boats was stabbed over the weekend while recording boaters at a public dock in the Clear Lake area, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened at the Clear Lake Parks public boat ramps along NASA Parkway, where Captain Crunch is a familiar sight to fishermen and boaters.

In a 75-minute livestream recorded by Captain Crunch, you could see the entire incident unfold. The video is now part of the sheriff's office investigation. Toward the end of the video, Captain Crunch can be heard arguing with several boaters he was recording.

At one point, he waves at a woman driving off, saying on video, "See you later, Karen!"

The exchange then continues with another woman for a moment, then the camera suddenly falls to the ground. Investigators say that is when an unknown person approached Captain Crunch from behind and stabbed him.

The video captures people yelling for the attacker to stop.

Fishing guide Harrison Woods, who frequently sees Captain Crunch at the dock, said the attack appeared to be personal.

"It seems like the stabbing was personal because if you watch the video, the guy comes from behind him," Woods said.

Investigators say the boaters that Captain Crunch had been arguing with on the video then jumped in to help after the stabbing. Their actions can also be heard on the livestream as people call for help, and voices are heard yelling at the alleged stabber to "get off" Captain Crunch.

The suspect is also accused of slashing the tires of a black truck belonging to another fisherman. That fisherman told ABC 13 that his truck looks exactly like the one being driven by Captain Crunch, and he assumes the suspect just picked the wrong truck.

Captain Crunch suffered minor injuries and has since been released from the hospital. He has also posted about the incident on social media, promising a complete update.

Woods says the stabbing has shocked people who regularly use the public boat ramp.

"He's always out here. I come out here about seven days a week. He's very friendly, just recording, just getting entertainment from the boat ramp," Woods said.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says investigators have obtained video that may show the suspect, but they haven't found a clear shot of the person's face. Investigators are working to obtain more video.
